Determine what success is for you

Before you can become successful, you have to decide what success is for you...rather than what others feel your success should be.

Success is defined as a "favorable or desired outcome". To determine what success is for you, write down your specific career and life goals. These goals need to be more specific than "I want a lot of money". Take your time, and put some real thought into this exercise.

To begin identifying what you consider success, complete the statement in the box below. We are not keeping up with your response, so be completely candid.

You might want to print this page once you have typed your response. This exercise will allow you to see how far you have come when you reach your goals.

One of the quickest ways to dissatisfaction is letting someone else limit the heights you can reach by defining your idea of success for you. If you let this happen you could wake up one day to the realization that you have been living someone else's life.

Don't follow a path toward dissatisfaction because you have allowed others to force their opinion about what success is on you.
